Repurpose & Re-Imagine
Alex/Scott Couture offers to their clients the ability to reinvent a garment. We have taken on so many wonderful repurposing projects in the last twenty years. Among the unique:
- Using a vintage 1960's beaded gown to create a slinky, camisole dress and top.
- Cutting Mom's 1980's designer wedding gown into a short, sexy bridal shower dress.
- Designing a daytime party dress with lace embroidery taken from a vintage wedding gown.
- Making a christening gown from Grandma's wedding dress and veil.
- Piecing together classic Hermes scarves to fashion a cocktail dress.
- Designing a new wedding gown using only a beaded crescent and tulle from a used designer dress bought at a sample sale.
Alex/Scott Couture also has the capability to repurpose fur. Alex Pecuszok was trained in Europe and possesses the skills necessary to cut and sew fur. He has deconstructed outdated, oversized fur coats and turned them into short, leather trimmed jackets , shrugs, hats and used the fur to line cloth coats. Imagine a cashmere shawl trimmed in fox or a mink collar buttoned onto a flannel blazer!
Another special service provided by Alex/Scott Couture is copying a garment that has worn out or no longer fits. Often times a client will bring us her favorite blazer or a pair of pants or a blouse that she has worn to death, loves and can no longer find at retail. We can copy it exactly, make a permanent paper pattern and reproduce it in the same fabric or a variety of other fabrics and colors.
